Brig - central to the Valais region and worth an excursion
Located in the heart of the Valais, Brig is also an important crossroad for international connections. The small town is steeped in history and gladly shares its many treasures with visiting guests.
Don't miss the magnificent Stockalper castle and the stately homes of former noblemen, nor the cozy inns and hotels that account for much of its charm. You will appreciate walking the small, winding alleys, breathing the crisp mountain air that sweeps down from the surrounding mountains with tales of villages and resorts up above. Your eyes will be drawn to the horizon, where the Simplon, one of the grandest mountain passes opens a passage to the south. You will be sure to find everything you need to make your stay an enjoyable one. There are about 1,000 beds in 22 different hotels and inns, chalet apartments as well as many a fine restaurant to please even the most demanding guest. The Simplon hall, the former court and knights quarters, inside the Stockalper castle, the Alfred-Grünwald hall at the town library, the theater hall and the church quarters are all well equipped and available for seminaries and congresses.
